I am the Learning Area Manager of TAS at NBCS where I lead a team of teachers providing courses in Technology, Design & Technology, Engineering, Food Technology & Textiles Technology. I am in the process of redesigning the Year 7 & 8 Technology so a Gamified personalised journey through NBCS Technology. I also teach IST in Stage 5 (Years 9 and 10). Previously I was the IT Faculty coordinator at St Augustine’s College – Sydney where I taught IPT & SDD to year 11 & year 12. These courses were part online which proved an interesting new challenge. As Teaching and Learning Technology coordinator, I was responsible for helping to integrate ICT into the curriculum.

I am passionate about the use of ICT to enhance the learning environment for students and teachers. I believe that the students that we are teaching will face many different challenges than what we faced. We need to prepare them for an uncertain future where they may be working in careers that dont exist yet, using technology that hasnt been invented yet, trying to find and solve problems never encountered by previous generations. In order to prepare them to succeed, I believe we need to inspire them with a love for learning that will empower them as resilient collaborators that will rise to the challenges that they will face. I took the initiative to to create the #ccGlobal Connected Classrooms project to allow students to collaborate and connect with other students all over the world. We created some really exciting projects that are highly engaging due to the authentic learning provided for students, teachers and even parents.

My co-curricular passion is football (soccer). I was the U18 coach at St Augustine’s for 5 years. In 2011, the team were major premiers in the MWFA (Manly Warringah Football Association) and won the Grand Final at Cromer Park with a golden goal. The team went on to represent MWFA in the NSW Champion of Champions and narrowed lost out in the Quarter-Final to the highly fancied Lilli Pilli from the Sutherland district. I coached my teams to play the beautiful game in a beautiful way (Barcelona FC style) and I am very proud of their achievements and especially the manner in which they played. In 2012 I coached my daughter’s team to their first ever major premiership and grand final win and in 2013 coached my son’s team to his first Grand Final win. I play in the MWFA O35 competition with Narrabeen FC.

  1. Hi there Liam, I am sure that I remember you. You use to hang out with O loughlin. I cannot remember his first name. He had a younger brother called Ronal. regards D

    • I used to be friends with Kieran O’Loughlin when I was at school. I don’t remember you so you’ll have to help me out there. Cheers Liam
