I was a student at Dun Laoghaire CBS (also known as Eblana CBS due to its location on Eblana Avenue in Dun Laoghaire) and returned to do the practical component of my H Dip Ed there. The principal, Bro. Eddie McEvoy RIP, who had been my teacher for Honours Irish, became my employer and mentor and one of the most influential people in my early teaching career. I was also fortunate enough to work with my ex-Geography teacher, Jim Breslin, who inspired my love of Geography and ways to teach it.
One of my proudest achievements was as a prac teacher working with a weaker ability senior Geography class who exceeded all expectations in their Leaving Cert results.
Hey Liam,
I hope all is well, just reliving the old days here, and looking out for old school chums from CBS. Love to know what they’re doing now, married/single or whatever
All the best,
Paul ” The Duke” Byrne

Hi Paul, great to hear from ole class mates. We were fortunate to be in a great year at Eblana. I saw an alternative perspective when I returned as a teacher but the great character of Eblana always shone through regardless of the year group.Happy memories!
I just edited the page because I realised that you may have misinterpreted the reference to the achievement in the post. The achievement mentioned was as a teacher not as a student.
Hi Liam
I know this may seem a silly question but you dont happen to remember where john neary was buried I know it was in wicklow but cabt remember where

Paul
Hi Paul,
Sure do. John’s final resting place is at Glenealy. Beautiful location in the Wicklow countryside. Hard to believe that was 32 years ago. RIP
all the best,
Liam
Thanks Liam
Mind yourself
